Bismarck TriBune Friday, March 24, 2017 A5 1 OBITUARIES OBITUARIES Thomas Findlay Jr. Thomas L. Findlay Jr. died tragically on March 18, 2017. He was born Aug.

3, 1950, in Chippewa Falls, Wis. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Dolores; and his brother, Jan. He is survived by his wife, Bobbie; his son, Thomas MacGregor (Melissa); step- daughter Stacy; stepson Brian; and sisters Tamara Wong and Patricia Ander- son. He is also survived by nephews Chris (Amy), Corey (Kathy) and niece Aimee (Rick), and many relatives and friends. Tom lived in Wisconsin until age 7, and then the fam- ily moved to Coon Rapids, Minn.

He graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 1968, and then obtained an Associates degree from Rochester Community and Technical College in 2013. Tom was a proud U.S. Army veteran and served two tours in Vietnam, with an artillery battery of the 5th Infantry Division. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Good Conduct and several other awards. Tom could accomplish anything he set his mind to do.

In Mon- tana, he started a bottling spring water business. Sub- sequently he lived in Cali- fornia, Arizona, and North Dakota, and then returned to Minnesota to be near his son. He most recently was driving taxi in St. Cloud and previ- ously in Bismarck, he drove a bus for special needs clients. People would say that Tom should have been a priest or psychologist because he loved getting to know peo- ple.

Any interaction with him could lead to a two hour con- versation. He was a tall man with barrel like physique, full white beard, great smile and wire rim glasses and was fre- quently called Santa Claus. Tom will be forever missed and always in our hearts. A Celebration of Life will be held March 26 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

at Cremation Soci- ety of Minnesota, 1979 Old Hudson Rd, St. Paul, with the service at 3 p.m. Inter- ment will be on March 27 at 12:45 p.m., with Military Honors at the National Cem- etery, Ft. to 7 p.m., with a rosary and vigil at 7 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with Deacon Leonard Kordonowy presid- ing. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services on Saturday. Karl challenged the med- ical world since one year of age. Unfortunately, the mystery remains as compli- cations could not be fixed.

Although Karl could not speak, his smiles commu- nicated loud and clear. He loved to be around people and to go on walks to see his friends and neighbors who all knew him from blocks away. Karl had so many wonderful dedicated and compassionate caregivers over the years. They loved to read to him, sing to him or watch movies and wres- tling on TV with him. He loved to smile when he had presents coming for them or they asked him if they were too big or when they knocked something over accidentally.

Through the power of prayer from so many in life, Karl pulled through many struggles along the way. Each day and smile was a gift from God. His smile lit up the world especially after his confirmation by Bishop Kagan at his home on Feb. 12, 2017. What a miracle this was for Karl to show he was at peace and how he loved those around him that were able to witness his abundant and precious smiles during his final month.

God picked the 1st day of spring with a light rain to call sweet Karl Home to Him. His body will be placed on the top shelf in the mau- soleum next to his Grandpa Stanley so they can hear the rain together. His grandpa had died two months before Karl was born but now they can rest in peace together. Karl was a teacher of love, patience, and kindness. Karl looked upwards to God and the angels often through- out his days and nights, and he now walks with them, restored to perfect health and vitality.

Thank you God for all his smiles. May they continue forever from above. His smile will always be remembered. Matthew 19:14 But Jesus said, the little children come to me and do not try to stop them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as Karl is survived at home by his parents, Doug and Rhonda; his sister Kayla; and his loving pet, Lilly; his paternal grandmother, Gladys Paluck; maternal grandparents Gordon and Crystal Berwald; aunts and uncles and cousins Robert and Donna Paluck (Carrie and Mick Neurohr (Cobey, Connor, Colton), Mandi and Casey Scheeler (Zoey), Casey Paluck Cierra); Melissa and John Remund (Courtney, Caleb, Brook- lyn); Jodi and Michael Hook (Michael III), Jackie and Kelly Merryweather (Kole and Kadie); Tammy and Rob Greiner (Troy, Rachael, Emma, Trevor); and special great-aunt Linda Sibson.
