MIAMI (AP) A woman who wanted to work at a nightclub started searching for someone who could perform plastic surgery at a cheap price to give her a curvier body. Police said what she found was a woman posing as a doctor who filled her buttocks with cement, mineral oil and flat-tire sealant. The suspect who police said was born a man and identifies as a woman apparently performed the surgery on herself, and investigators said she may have victimized others. Oneal Ron Morris, 30, was arrested Friday after a year on the lam and has been charged with practicing medicine without a license with serious bodily injury. Police photos show Morris as a small-framed woman with bee-stung pouty lips, arched eyebrows, oversized hoop earrings and a large backside.

She was released from jail on bond. A phone listing for Morris could not be found, and it's unclear if she has an attorney. The victim, who is not being named due to medical privacy laws, paid $700 for a series of injections in May 2010. She was referred to Morris by a friend. Woman to begin Antarctic crossing CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) A 33-year-old British adventurer preparing for a historic solo crossing of Antarctica was waiting at a base camp for the weather to improve on Sunday in order to begin her long journey on skis.

Felicity Aston said she has been doing more than physical training to ready herself for the expedition. "I've also been speaking to a sports psychologist about the mental aspect of it because so much of this is about where your head's at rather than your muscles and your physical fitness," Aston told The Associated Press in a telephone interview from the base camp at Union Glacier. She aims to become the first person to cross Antarctica alone using only muscle power. If she manages to complete the journey in late January as planned, she also would set a record for the longest solo polar expedition by a woman, at about 70 days. "Unfortunately, the weather hasn't been kind to us so far," Aston said.

1 dead in small plane crash in III. ELGIN, 111. (AP) Authorities are investigating a small plane crash in suburban Chicago that left the pilot dead. Kane County sheriff's spokesman Patrick Gengler said the plane crashed around 1:30 p.m. Sunday at a private airport near the suburb of Elgin.

Gengler said the single-engine plane was trying to take off when it crashed. The pilot was the only person in the aircraft and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as 69-year-old Frank Kehoe of Hampshire. Authorities said Kehoe was an experienced pilot. It was not clear where he was headed when the crash happened.

Martial arts fans catcall Putin MOSCOW (AP) Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin was greeted by catcalls when he stepped into the ring after a mixed martial arts fight at a Moscow arena on Sunday night. The whistles and shouts, heard clearly on the live television broadcast, were an unprecedented rebuke as Putin prepares to return to the presidency next year. A judo enthusiast, Putin has long been an admirer of Russian heavyweight-mixed martial artist Fedor Emelia-nenko and came to see him take on American competitor Jeff Monson.

After Emelianenko won, Putin stepped into the ring to congratulate him, but was met with catcalls from many of the 22,000 fans at the Olympic Stadium. Russian Professional Boxing Federation spokesman Andrei Bazdrev said on Ekho Moskvy radio that Iitin seemed taken aback by the unexpected negative reaction, but quickly regained his composure. 3 missing Boy Scouts found safe BREVARD, N.C. (AP) Authorities said three Boy Scouts who were separated from their troop during a mountain hike did exactly what scouts are told to do if they get lost: They pitched a tent, stayed warm in sleeping bags and set out in the morning to find their rescuers. David Orr is deputy chief with the Transylvania County Rescue Service in North Carolina.

I Ie said a helicopter pilot spotted the boys waving Sunday morning during its first pass over the mountains north of Brevard. The boys, who were with a troop from the Charlotte area, were fine and didn't need medical help before they were reunited with their parents. Orr said they had eaten the snacks in their backpacks for breakfast: crackers, candy and fruit snacks. During the night, temperatures fell into the 50s. Grenade blasts in Syrian capital BEIRUT (AP) Rocket-propelled grenades struck the headquarters of Syria's ruling party Sunday, bringing the violence that has engulfed much of the country to the heart of its capital for the first time, activists said.

The attack on the building in Syria's capital of Damascus apparently caused no damage or casualties. But if tme, it would mark a significant shift in the eight-month uprising against President Bashar Assad. Until now, the capital has remained relatively untouched. The pre dawn attack awoke many Syrians who reported hearing two loud blasts, but details couid not be confirmed. The foreign minister denied an attack had taken place, and Syrian television broadcast footage of the building looking undamaged.

The Free Syrian Army, a group of military defectors, claimed responsibility, highlighting the growing militarization of the revolt following months of largely peaceful protests.
