Bismarck Theft: A Cash Wise Foods security guard stopped a 14-yearold Bismarck girl at 8:30 p.m. Thursday when she pushed an empty shopping cart out of the grocery store parking lot across 12th Street. The girl said she took the shopping cart because her two friends, who fled when the security guard appeared, dared her to do it, and she was planning to return the cart. The girl received a juvenile citation for theft of property.

Anton Hoon Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck. Visitation and a rosary will be held prior to services at the church. Tony was born Nov. 22, 1937, at Linton, the son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Feist) Hoon.

He was raised and educated in Linton. On Feb. 2, 1957, he married Arlene Landsberger in Linton. Tony was a plant manager at the Pepsi Cola Bottling Co. in Aberdeen, S.D., for 35 years.

Tony loved living on their hobby farm and going fishing. He was a member of the Church of the Ascension in Bismarck. Tony is survived by his wife, Arlene, Bismarck; three brothers, Peter and Sylvester, both of Aberdeen, and Valentine, Sedalia, and three sisters, Katie Zacher and Maggie Keller, both of Aberdeen, and Mary Heer, Linton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Elizabeth; one brother, Joe; one sister, Annie Schneider; and an Viola Schettler WHITE SHIELD Viola C. Schettler, 73, White Shield, died Oct.

29, 2002, at her son's home after a long battle with cancer. Services will be held at 10 a.m. today at Ralph Wells Memorial Complex, White Shield. Steckler, 89, Mandan, died Nov. 1, 2002, at a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev.

Patrick A. Schumacher officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery. Betty Steckler Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, with a Catholic Daughters Rosary at 4 p.m.

and a parish vigil following at 7 p.m. Betty was born May 30, 1913, on the family farm near Richardton, the daughter of Martin and Frances (Helfrich) Braun. She was raised and educated in Richardton. Betty married Luke Steckler on July 14, 1936, and they moved to Mandan, where Luke worked for the Mandan Creamery (Cloverdale Foods) until they started Stecklers Refrigeration Sales and Service. In 1999, after Luke's death, she moved from their home on 109 Fourth Ave.

N.E. to Liberty Heights. Betty enjoyed her stay at Liberty Heights and the special friendships she made there. Betty was a lifetime member of the Catholic Daughters of America. During her lifetime she enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, ceramics and playing bridge.

Betty's three grandchildren were also very important to her. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Helen Steckler, Mandan; her daughter, Del Steckler and her friend Ron Feiker, Minneapolis; three grandchildren, Todd and his wife Mayra, La Jolla, Texas, and Scott and Kelly, both of Mandan; four sisters and three brothers- in-law, Anne Olsen, Mandan, Eleanor and Ed Lantz, Las Vegas, Alma and Joe Eckroth, Kent, and Lavina and Fran Forster, Mesa, three brothers and two sistersin-law, Joe and Mickey Braun, Elgin, Leo and Lorene Brown, Bentley, and Matt Brown, Glendive, one sister-in-law, Bea Brown, Spokane, many nieces, nephews and their spouses; several greatnieces and great-nephews; many friends; and her dear lifetime friend, Eva Karls. Betty's parents, her husband, Luke, her brother, Frank, and an infant son, Vernon Luke, preceded her in death. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Mandan Public Library or St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Mandan.

Dale Michel JAMESTOWN Dale Michel, 47, Jamestown, died Oct. 31, 2002, at his home after a long battle with cancer. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown. He is survived by his wife, Janet; three daughters, Mandy Michel and Katrina Michel, both of Jamestown, and Angie Michel, Bismarck; one son, Travis, Jamestown; two grandchildren; four brothers, Jerry Kenneth, Bernard and Dennis, all of Jamestown; one sister, Cheryl Haskin, Jamestown; and his father, Gerald Michel, Jamestown.
