He is survived by his wife, Agnes; one son, Clifford, Garrison; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m.

Thursday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Laurie Natwick officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Evelyn Benson Visitation will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck.

Evelyn was born Sept. 3, 1910, in Superior, the daughter of John and Julie (Lystad) Simonson. She was raised in Roseglen on the family farm, and graduated from Garrison High School. She received her teaching degree from Minot State Normal School in Minot. Evelyn married Arnold H.

Benson on Dec. 25, 1940, in Bismarck. They lived in Ellendale, Killdeer, Watford City and Williston, where Evelyn taught school before moving to Bismarck in 1961. Arnold died in 1990, and she continued to live in Bismarck. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and the Order of Eastern Star.

She is survived by her sisters, Hazel Boren, Bismarck, and Myrtle Braun, Wilmar, three nephews; and one niece. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Nelda Bullinger MOTT- Nelda A. Bullinger, 85, Mott, died March 10, 2003, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m.

MST Friday at St. Vincent's Catholic Church, Mott. Burial will be at 3 p.m. CST Friday in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Burial will be in McClusky City Cemetery. Martha Bentz Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon Friday at Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky. Martha was born May 2, 1909, nine miles north of McClusky to Christian and Barbara (Frey) Waltz.

She grew up and attended rural school near their farm home. She married Fred Bentz on July: 3, 1933, in McClusky. They lived and farmed 21 miles northwest of McClusky. They moved to a farm northeast of McClusky in 1942 and operated a dairy farm. They moved into McClusky in 1970.

Martha entered the Prairie View Nursing Home in April 1999. She attended the United Methodist Church in McClusky. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting and sharing these handmade items with her friends and family. She also enjoyed singing. She is survived by her husband, Fred, McClusky; and numerous nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, August, Jake and John; and her sisters, Carrie Herr, Pauline Rittenbach and Mary Hausauer. C. Ronald Wiley C. Ronald Wiley, 63, Belle Fourche, S.D., died March 8, 2003, at a Spearfish, S.D., hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m.

28, 1938, in Washburn, the daughter of Adolph and Dorothy (Schlittenhart) Schuler. They moved to Baldwin in 1943, where she attended school and graduated from Bismarck High School. Janet married Alvin Hojian on March 30, and they made their home in Bismarck. She loved crocheting, cross stitching and spending time with her granddaughter. She will be missed by all of her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Alvin; her daughter, Amanda (Travis) Kuhn, Bismarck; her son, Jason Hojian, Bismarck; her granddaughter, Erin Kuhn, Bismarck; three brothers, Norvel (Lou) Schuler, Baldwin, and Alden (Marlys) Schuler and Melvin (Linda) Schuler, both of Bismarck; two sisters, Marlys Fricke, Bismarck, and Virginia Martin, Las Vegas; one sister-in-law, Phyllis Schuler, Bismarck; and two special friends, Rosella Fleckenstein and Kathy Noon. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Marvin; one brother-in-law, Jerry Martin; and one sister-inlaw, Mary Schuler. Marian Flaget HALLIDAY Marian Flaget, 88, Halliday, died March 9, 2003, at a Killdeer nursing home, where she has been a resident for the past six years.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Friday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Halliday, with the Rev. Steven Schou officiating. Burial will be in Halliday Cemetery. Marian Flaget Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m.

MST Thursday at Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah. Marian was born June 2, 1914, the second child of J. Carl and Inga (Pederson) Swenson, on the family farm in rural Dodge. She was raised and educated in the Halliday area, receiving a teaching certificate from Dickinson Normal School. Marian taught in Dunn County at several different oneroom schools.

In the late afternoon of July 16, 1938, a 1934 Ford drove south from Halliday on Highway 8, supposedly not wanting to be noticed (as some people have told the story). When arriving in Dickinson, Oliver Flaget met Marian Swenson and they continued west on Highway 10. Upon reaching the destination of Wibaux, some teenagers said to them, "Oh, you are the couple that want to get married?" Secretive you bet! The knot was tied, and they returned to Dickinson on the same road, but as Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Flaget.

Together they returned to the Flaget family farm. Marian continued to teach for several years, and then quit teaching to help on the farm. She loved spending time outside milking cows, tending the chickens and spending many hours in her favorite flower gardens. Whether with her siblings, children or grandchildren, she was always ready to let her inner child escape. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Marijean and Roger Gissel, Pullman, and Sharlene and Tom Klegstad, Hallock, one son and daughterin-law, Bill and Shelley Flaget, Halliday; seven grandchildren, Kari Gissel and Jonathan Gissel, Erin Klegstad and Ami Klegstad, Chris Flaget, Sarah Duttenhefner and Margaret Flaget; six -grandchildren; three brothers and sisters-inlaw, Alton and Hulda Swenson and Robert and Alma Swenson, all of Halliday, and Charles and Connie Swenson, Glendive, four sisters, Dorothy Kurle, Bismarck, Elsie Swenson, Reno, Margaret Flatin, Fargo, and Ruth Tschaekofske, Dodge; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ron Mehrer Ron Mehrer, 66, Bismarck, died March 7, 2003, after a pro- There will be no visitation. Ronald Edwin Mehrer was born in Fremont, the son of Edwin and Ruth (Freeman) Mehrer. He was raised on a farm near Moffit, graduating from Bismarck High School in 1954. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees in education at North Dakota State University, and taught high school in Linton, Wyndmere and Ashley. He married Darlene Jane McCay in 1958.

In 1963, they moved to Yuma, where he taught at Kofa High School for 20 years. He married Denise Gunderson in 1980. He returned to North Dakota in 1983, where he was the project director and curriculum specialist for research, curriculum and personnel development at the North Dakota State Board for Vocational and Technical Education for over 15 years. He developed and presented competency-based curricula and trained vocational teachers, counselors and administrators in North Dakota and nationwide. A lifelong educator, he was active in vocational education since 1958.

One of his greatest rewards come from mentoring students, as evidenced by the many letters he received from them over the years. He was a life member of Future Farmers of America Alumni, and sponsored state and national awardwinning FFA chapters. He served as president of the Arizona Vocational Association and the Arizona Vocational Agriculture Teachers Association, and was executive secretary. of the North Dakota Vocational Association. In 1997, he was voted the American Vocational Association Region 5 Educator of the Year.

He was a numismatist, a master at crossword puzzles, spectator sports enthusiast and actively debated current events. He enjoyed regional cuisine as he traveled for work. He was a life member of Sunrise Optimists International in Yuma. In recent years, he enjoyed the company of the staff and patrons at the Ramkota Hotel, where he lunched almost every day. He leaves two daughters, Mary Mehrer, Durham, N.C., and Annette Mehrer, Scottsdale, two sisters and one brother-in-law, June Hintz, Mandan, and JoAnn and John Hebert, New Baltimore, one brother and sister-in-law, David and Jean Mehrer, Clinton, lowa; and many extended family members.
