At the same time, Buchanan chastised members of both parties "especially the Republicans" for being "braying donkeys of interventionism." He said the United States should apologize to Russia for the "double -cross" of expanding NATO into central Europe. Helen was born July 15, 1908, in rural Logan County, near Napoleon, the daughter of John and Johanna (Schwartzenberger) Johs. She was raised on the family farm in the St. Boniface area and received her elementary education in rural Logan County Schools. Helen was married to John Leier on Jan. 29, 1929, at St.

Boniface Catholic Church in rural Kintyre. Following their marriage, they lived and farmed 13 miles southwest of Napoleon. In 1967, they retired and moved to Napoleon, where she has lived since that time. In April 1999, Helen became a resident of the Napoleon Care Center. Helen was a member of the St.

Philip Neri Catholic Church, and the St. Philip Neri Christian Mothers. She loved to quilt and made a quilt for each of her family members and she enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Christ Mathilda, Napoleon, Adam and Judy, Bismarck, Anton "Tony" and Cathy, Mandan, and Mike and Lynn, Fargo; and eight daughters and six sons-in-law, Johanna and Louis Wald, Napoleon, Phyllis Leier, Bismarck, Magdalena Riedlinger, Bismarck, Leona and Roger Frohlich, Bismarck, Alvina and Jack Frohlich, Bismarck, Clara and Vance Rogers, Bismarck, Helen and Stanley Schatz, Fargo, and Betty and Dale Stroh, Grand Forks; 54 grandchildren and 66. great-grandchildren; three brothers, Andrew Johs, Napoleon, John and Ann Johs, Bismarck, and Adam and Sally Johs, Napoleon; and two sisters, Mary Weigel, Napoleon, and Johanna and Anton Horner, Napoleon.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John, on Feb. 6, 1979; her parents; one son, Joe; a son-in-law, Willie Riedlinger; and five brothers and two sisters. Cranston was a very gentle and compassionate person. His name "Cranston" has the meaning "Emperor of a Kingdom." He had a great sense of humor and loved to see people laugh. Cranston completed sixth grade at St. Joseph's School and anticipated going to Mandan Junior High as a seventh-grader. Cranston enjoyed the outdoors, including hunting, fishing, camping, water skiing, and going out to the farm.

He also enjoyed basketball, playing cards and dominoes. During his stay at the hospital, he would visit other children and developed many special relationships. He also had a close bond with his doctors, nurses and all the care givers who took care of him. The family extends their gratitude to all who cared for Cranston. He is survived by his parents, Alan and Candace Fleck, one sister, Desiree, at home; his grandparents, Betty Fleck, Mandan, Melchoir and Elaine Volk, Mandan, and Great-Grandfather Frank Stroh, Mandan.

Also numerous aunts and uncles, many cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandfather Peter Fleck, greatgrandmother, Emma Stroh; one cousin, Wade Volk; one uncle, George Fleck; and one aunt, Vivian Fleck. He will be greatly missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, neighbors and health care workers. Memorials may be directed to Child Life Program. Kirk was born April 1970, to Carl and Barb (Thompson) Eckelberry in Columbus, Ohio. Kirk grew up in Mandan and attended school at Shiloh Christian, graduating in 1988. He went on to the University of Mary, graduating in 1993, and finishing his law degree in 1996 at the UND School of Law at Grand Forks. After school, Kirk began working at Rolfson Schulz Lervick and Geiermann Law Office as an attorney. He married Kristy Dudyrev on June 20, 1992, in Bismarck.

Kirk had a deep passion for hockey, golf, coaching soccer at Shiloh Christian and riding his motorcycle. But his greatest passion was for his two children, his wife and his Lord Jesus. Kirk is survived by his wife, Kristy; his children, Natasha and Chander; his parents, Carl and Barb; one brother, Scott and his wife, Candice Eckelberry, Atlanta, and two grandmothers, Vera Bennett, Columbus, Ohio, and Mae Thompson, Mandan. He was preceded in death by both Grandfathers Everett Eckelberry and William Thompson. (Bismarck Funeral Home) Arthur McNamara places around the world.

Steckler was born on Oct. 27, 1912 in Richardton, the son of Peter and Philomena (Heil) Steckler. He was raised and educated in Richardton. Luke attended Coyne Electrical School in Chicago, Ill. On July 14, 1936, he married Betty Brown in Richardton.

He worked for the Mandan Creamery (Cloverdale Foods) for 20 years until he started Steckler's Refrigeration Sales and Service, where he worked until his retirement. Luke a member of the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society, the Knights of Columbus, serving as Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator and honorary member of the 4th Degree; a past member of the Mandan Elks; past president of the Mandan Kiwanis; a member of the Eagles Club; and an active member on a bowling league, and he loved playing cards and reading. is survived by his wife, Betty; one son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Helen Steckler, Mandan; and one daughter, Del Steckler, residing in Minneapolis; and three grandchildren, Todd, Scott and Kelly; one sisterin-law, Lena Dressler, Dickinson; and many nieces and nephews. Luke was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Philomena; five brothers, Julius, John, Pius, Joe and Leo; and four sisters, Katie, Rose, Pauline and Anna; and his infant son, Vernon Luke.
